Who am I?

This is an absolutely terrifying question, but I’m an in-house editor at Allen & Unwin, Australia and freelance editor and writer, with a Master of Publishing and Communications (University of Melbourne), the Columbia Publishing Course certificate (Columbia University) and a Bachelors in English (University of Delhi).

I grew up in India and used to read a lot as a child. Then college happened, and I thought I didn’t like reading any more. Turns out I just didn’t like reading boring things (aka most writings by old, white, colonial men), and found my calling towards children’s and speculative fiction.

I like to engage critically with the question, “What makes a good story?” This involves plenty of reading and listening to books, editing manuscripts, watching movies and TV, playing video games and D&D, watching commentary on pop culture, writing (and trashing) my own fiction, and debating with fellow nerds. I still don’t know if there’s a magical formula to a good story, but I’ll keep you updated.

In the meantime, you can check out the things I’ve worked on, get in touch with me, or commission me for your editorial needs.
